Caring for ceramic nonstick cookware
A few habits keep a ceramic coating slick for years.
Ceramic nonstick coatings are durable, but they reward gentle treatment. These are the care instructions published with the cookware we stock.
On the stove
- Cook on low to medium heat; the aluminium body heats quickly and evenly.
- Never heat an empty pan. Add a little high smoke-point oil or butter first.
- Use wooden or silicone utensils rather than metal.
- Avoid aerosol cooking sprays, which build up on the coating.
Washing
- Let the pan cool completely, then hand wash with warm soapy water.
- Skip the dishwasher, scouring pads and abrasive cleaners.
- Stubborn residue lifts with boiling water and a sprinkle of baking soda.
